Diploma of Music Industry
(Business)

This 12-month (two semesters) full time Diploma program is designed to give students a thorough grounding in the business side of the music industry The academic program consists of 24 courses (subjects) which cover:

• Copyright and contracts
• Image development, marketing and promotion
• Practical music analysis and music industry knowledge
• Occupational health and safety, insurance and public liability issues
• Project management
• Budgeting and risk analysis
• New technologies and computer software
• Artist and tour management

The program is designed to give young music professionals the working knowledge to take their place in the music business industry. The program is delivered by experienced and qualified teachers who are actively involved in the music industry. Specialist guest lecturers also regularly add their vast industry experience to the delivery team.

Please note that in the study of performing arts, visual art, and design within a contemporary context some content may be personally challenging.

Registration Details

CUS50301 Diploma of Music Industry (Business) is in teach-out and no new students may be accepted. Program and price information on this brochure is published for the use of continuing students only.

In 2011, this program will be replaced by CUS50309 Diploma of Music Business. Details will be published as soon as registration is complete.

Entry Criteria

Completion of Year 12 or equivalent  
or
Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Standard course cost will be charged for units of study/courses credited via RPL.

Government Subsidised Fee:
- Full Rate: $1,505

A $40 Administration Fee is applicable to Government subsidised enrolments.

Government subsidised fees must be paid through existing payment methods at the time of enrolment.

Full Fee: $14,500 VET FEE-HELP* eligible.

To be eligible for VET FEE-HELP, and defer payment of fees, a student must be enrolled in a full fee paying course.
